Cabinet Painting in Tsawwassen, Ladner & Delta

We at Texora Painting & Drywall do cabinet painting in Tsawwassen, Ladner and the rest of Delta, BC. One of the two partners prices your kitchen on site, our crew removes and sprays the doors, and the written estimate names your 1, 2 or 3-year workmanship warranty. A spray finish on your existing cabinets costs a fraction of a kitchen replacement.

  • We price every job from a walkthrough, so the number depends on the doors, drawer fronts and surfaces, the prep they need and the paint line.
  • Cabinet paint usually fails when degreasing, sanding or the right primer gets skipped, and we do all three before a hard-wearing topcoat.
  • Laminate, melamine and thermofoil doors can be painted with the right prep and adhesion primer.

Cabinet painting in Tsawwassen, Ladner and Delta

Cabinets are removed, sprayed in a controlled environment, and reinstalled, which gives a dust-free, brush-mark-free finish that's smooth to the touch. With the right primer and a catalyzed urethane or waterborne alkyd topcoat, painted cabinets hold up to daily use. We're house painters based in Tsawwassen, in the City of Delta, and we take cabinet work in Ladner, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody too.

  • Cabinet doors removed & sprayed, as in the Ladner Village kitchen
  • Proper degreasing & sanding prep, then a chip & peel resistant catalyzed topcoat
  • Hardware reinstalled on completion
  • Colour matching available, including Chantilly Lace and Simply White
  • 100% satisfaction guaranteed

For a finished example, see the Ladner Village kitchen cabinet repaint. If you are repainting the room as well as the cabinets, see our interior painting services.

What does cabinet prep involve?

Every surface gets degreased thoroughly, sanded to remove the existing sheen, and finished with an adhesion primer before any topcoat goes on, because grease and a slick factory sheen are exactly what stop paint from bonding to a cabinet door. Doors and drawer fronts come off to be sprayed, as in the Ladner Village kitchen repaint, so ask whether hinges, handles, and knobs get removed before spraying or just taped over. Taped-over hardware is a common way to end up with a rough edge once it's pulled off.

Laminate, melamine, and thermofoil surfaces, and previously varnished wood, don't grip a topcoat the way bare, sanded wood does, which is why they get an adhesion primer.

Is it time to paint your kitchen cabinets?

  • A cabinet finish that's chipped, peeling or mismatched.
  • Laminate, melamine or thermofoil doors you'd rather paint than replace.
  • A kitchen that needs a refresh without the cost of new cabinets; see the Ladner Village kitchen cabinet repaint.

How we finish kitchen cabinets in Delta

Cabinet prep

Kitchen cabinets are coated with grease, oils, and residue that prevent paint from bonding. We degrease every surface thoroughly, sand to remove the existing sheen, and apply an adhesion primer before any topcoat.

Spray and brush work

Brushing or rolling cabinet faces leaves visible texture and brush marks. We remove doors and drawer fronts and spray them in a controlled environment, and frames are sprayed or carefully brush-finished with a levelling primer.

Topcoat options

We use waterborne alkyd or catalyzed urethane topcoats in place of standard wall latex. These are specifically formulated for cabinetry: harder, more resistant to moisture and grease, and cleanable without marring the finish.

Scheduling

Your written estimate sets out the schedule for removal, spraying, cure time and reinstallation, and we keep you updated throughout. We phase the work so doors are spraying while frames are curing, which shortens the time the kitchen is out of commission.

More about cabinet painting in Delta

How long does cabinet paint need to cure?

Cabinet paint can feel dry to the touch within hours, but the topcoat needs longer to harden before it can take a heavy pot lid swinging into a door. Ask us how long your finish needs before normal use, and go gently with doors and drawers for a while after they're rehung.

What to decide before a cabinet painting quote

  • Doors and drawer fronts only, or frames and interior boxes too (boxes if the current finish is chipped or mismatched)
  • Hardware: reused, replaced, or repositioned
  • Colour: matched to what's there now, or a full change, like Chantilly Lace or Simply White
  • Door material: laminate, melamine, thermofoil, or solid wood

What does the cabinet painting warranty cover?

Cabinet projects carry the same written warranty as any other job, stated on your estimate, one to three years depending on scope. It covers doors and frames where the paint fails because of how it was prepped or applied: peeling, blistering, or adhesion loss. It doesn't cover the everyday scuffs in a working kitchen, or damage from harsh cleaners used on the finish after the fact.

The 100% satisfaction guarantee applies here too: we go through the finished kitchen with you and fix anything inside the agreed scope before the project is considered done.

Work that often goes with cabinet painting

Cabinet painting often comes up alongside a bigger project: if you're refreshing the whole main floor at the same time, see our full home repaint page.

Painting a bathroom vanity uses the same spray process, more on our bathroom refresh page, and if the trim around your kitchen needs attention while the cabinets are being done, see trim, doors and ceilings.
